Got My First Hong Kong Checkbook

Yeah! I have received my first Hong Kong Checkbook by mail today. So happy! I feel like I am growing up to be one of the professional workers here. Although the rule of the check writing is slightly different than American, it should not be too difficult for me to learn. For the checkbook itself, it looks very serious and there is no personalization at all. I can't choose Hello Kitty or Snoopy on the check face.

Stay Focus

What's about my career? It has been Great so far. Gaining lots of experience to deal with clients and learning more technical skill about Printing and design. Personally, this job has taught me to be self-discipline, self- motivated, self- control, work independently, be mature, smart, do not lose hope and do not trust people easily. It is not easy one!

Well, it is the end of July. I will stay focus on building good client relationship and work on the clientele expansion.

I discussed my new saving plan with a banker during the lunchtime yesterday. Choosing a High Risk Mutual Fund might be a good option to push myself to save up more money for the future. Here was the example:

US$500 X 36 Months = US$18,000

The Best Scenario: 15% Increase
US$18,000 X 1.15 = US$20,700

The Bad Scenario: 15% Decrease
US$18,000 X .85 = US$15,300

The Worst Scenario: Total loss
Gain nothing, but a lesson of Greediness.

Well, I am still thinking about it because what if Poly U accepts me as their part time student next week or a surprise...

Three Indian Clients in a row

Don't know why! I have already met three Indian Clients in a row. It was wired... two of them were referred by my boss and one of them was found online. Anyway, I am not saying that I am a racist who is against non Chinese. However, the economics is blooming in India and their people are seting up trading companies overseas. Maybe I should start investing in the Mumbai stock exchange to make a living.

On the other hand, my mom has bought a few hand fans for her dancing class. I am glad she has found a few hobbies that she could make more friends.

Banking Service

I have signed up for Integrated Account Service with Hang Seng Bank couple days ago. It is a local bank and has many branches in Hong Kong. Basically, I need a checking account only. However, the bank manager invited me to open the stock account just in case if I wanted to buy stock. Anyway, I did end up sign up for a Stock Account and a credit card. I guess I have self-control and won't over spend or invest.

MSG Free Resturant

Remember when I was living in Downtown Seattle, I always had a lunch in the MSG Free Deli at the Ground Floor of 5th Ave & Union. It was owned by a Korean Family and provided a buffet style of food for customers to choose. The price would depend on the weight of the food itself. Therefore, it was very reasonable and customers could enjoy wide range of food. Although I don't even know the name of the Deli now, the taste of the food is unforgettable. Maybe one day I will revisit the place.

As my body is recovering, I am looking for MSG Free Restaurants in Hong Kong. If you have any suggestion, please feel free to share with me.

My Old Home in Google Map

Someway somehow, I have a chance to revisit my old home in Seattle through Google Map. Maybe it is the most update version because there are plenty of new buildings surround. Still, I miss my studio alot because no body shares anything with me and I have my own house rules. Hopefully, I will go back and show this place to my kids one day. They will know my US past and the place I used to live.

Good Day... Sun Shine...

Finally, the sun shows up. It is brilliant to have the shinning sun back to the sky this morning. Although I am not sure how it lasts, I enjoy the Sun Kiss.
Mal Chun, one of my extended family members visited us and planned to pick up her son from her in law's home to China last night. She has known me since I was little. Most of the summer holiday in my childhood was spent in her home. Playing firecracker, Lychee picking, riding the bike and being laid back... were the activities we could not do in the busy city of Hong Kong.

Various

1) The body check went fine yesterday and the doctor scheduled another check up on Jan 2006. She was nice and just started her practice. If there is something wrong about the test, the hospital will notify me within a month. Now, I plan to stay healthy and eat fresh.

2) The book fair was so-so. Maybe I did not find what I wanted. Eva and I just bought two Matchman's water bottles. We had quick dinner in the exhibition hall. The food was okay, but expensive.

3) The fish in my office jumped off from the plastic box this morning. One of my coworkers became the suspect who caused the incident. I felt sad for the fish because it got injured. My boss just hoped the fish will settled down in the new fish tank soon.

4) Friday... one more days and I shall have a break to sleep. My soar throat and running nose are annoying.

No answer from Poly U

This early morning... I have checked the result of application for the part time program. Unfortunately, it is still being considered. No definite answer whether I am accepted or rejected. I try not to lost hope, but it is okay because my alterative is to travel this year.

On the other hand, Eva Leung and I will go to the Book Fair after work today. So excited! I look forward to buying a few interesting books.

Body Check

I am going to have a body check tomorrow which makes me feel nervous. I have already failed two times in a row because of a few minor problems and the doctor did advise me to take another test. Please pray for me and my body shall be okay!

Rahul... Shower Time

Yeah! I cleaned up Rahul's home and himself last night. It was not too difficult except putting him into a blue ball that allowed him to run around my home without getting lost. He did not like to take shower. Also, I have made him on diet too. Since I don't let him get out from his home often, lack of Exercise and over feed might be a Hassel to his health and weight. Therefore, I will try to feed him more often but fewer portions. Well, I will take a picture soon so that you could check him out.

Flipping through the TV Channels two months ago, "Want me, Want me" the new song of Namie Amuro caught my ears and eyes. She was energetic in the Music Video and the melody was different than other Japanese Artists. Eventually, I searched online for her new album and finally "Queen of Hip-pop", the CD was launched on July 13. Well, I have not listened to Japanese Pop Music for a long while. Her English pronunciation has been improved and I could understand what she sings. The new album is impressive and I recommend that you should give it a try.

Volleyball team

I have joined a volleyball team today. So Fun! Although we have a eleven players and barely know each other, having a tasty dinner together after practice was great. Actually, we have many common friends.

Remember that the last time I played volleyball with Rahul, Sreeraj, Bonnie, Sameer and Deepa in Alki Beach. It was about a year ago. The weather was nice and we were lucky to find the parking there. Rahul was a strong player even he only watches loads of sport games. And me... I was a terrible one. We did take some pictures there.

A slow & sunny day...

The weather is hot and wet... so slow but little bit too sunny. I had got myself together to go to work this morning. Friendster Classified were pop up on my email and I put my company info there. No matter which countries you search for "Printing", you will definitely find me there. I hope Hang Sing Printing & Design will have more appeals internationally.

Well, I chatted with Jos, my Singaporean friend. She is working in Pharmacy department of Harborview Hospital as an intern. Her puppy is so cute and adorable. I left Seattle soon after she has the puppy. Meanwhile, Ter and she are not planning to get married yet.

On the other hand, my KTL former classmate had invited me to attend her daughter's Birthday Party tomorrow. Suppose… it would be my first time to be an Auntie. Hahhaha... It doesn't happen because my classmate is sick and could host the party. That's okay! I will practice volleyball with the team for the incoming competition.

All in all, cleaning up my room and spending time with my parents might be good for today. No need to stress and think about!

A Terrific Night

I don't know where to start now, kind of lack of inspiration because I have read two free sets of newspaper. I did not think of anything to write during the bus ride.

Maybe I should talk about last night. Eva L and I had dinner in an Indonesian Restaurant. The food was tasty and look nice. The decorations were slightly too dark, but some of the customers were loud (Typical Chinese Style... just like the Wet Market...) It was my first time to meet her in person. She is a sweet person.

On the other hand, my workload is fine now and ready for new challenge. How's about you? Are you having a good time in the workplace? Anything new? I have a few friends who are looking for jobs in Hong Kong.

That’s it for today… hope I will have something better to write about tomorrow.

A rumor behind the death of Wong Ka Kui

My friend has sent a Chinese FWD email about the rumor behind the death of Wong Ka Kui. I am not sure it is real or not. I had watched and listened to Beyond's songs throughout my teen. 一度聽說日本光本村有個叫馬句的人是家駒的再生，他唱了那首在日本並不流行 的 《海闊天空》日文版。我聽到了，那正是他……”昨天，看到一篇《一個振奮人心的消息——家駒沒有死，這是真的！》的文章，不管是不是“真的”，這個故事卻也值得一讀。 12年前，一個歌壇英才由於受到香港演藝圈黑道的迫害，被迫…… 12年後的今天，某位當年參與迫害行動的黑道中人曝出內幕——家駒當年並沒有死，只是身受重傷後被轉移到日本鄉下。5年前，在日本北海道一個華人開的歌廳就出現了一個跛腳的歌手，自稱馬句，專唱日文歌，聲線與家駒極相似。 誰也沒有料到，這個人有可能就是黃家駒…… 家駒被黑道陷害

據說黃家駒和 BEYOND赴日發展的原因之一是家駒對當時香港樂壇的現狀十分不滿，著名的《俾面派對》就是表現家駒對香港樂壇的感受——不明白為什麼玩音樂的要常去參 加一些“俾面派對”(宣傳和遊戲節目)，被人當小丑玩？所以寄望成熟的日本市場能充分表現自己激昂的音樂。 正是由於家駒的直言，得罪了圈中的諸多人物，於是有人搬出黑道來對付家駒！其實這種事情在香港也是司空見慣的啦！ 黑道出手這是家駒始料不及的。為了達到既可置家駒於死地，又不露任何痕跡，黑道收買日本電視臺的人員，故意在安全設置方面佈下陷阱。其實日本方面已發生過不少類似“意外”，而且好幾宗都同樣發生在富士電視臺，1985年苦柿隊成員藥丸裕英於五尺高臺上跌下，右手腕骨折斷，1988年本本雅弘拍《希望擁抱你》劇集受傷，右手手腕縫了十四針，而1991年藝人Hiromi亦曾被煙花燒傷。據事後調查，這幾個人都是因為情性 太過耿直，得罪了圈中人，終致出現“意外”。

家駒發生意外後，日本警方曾懷疑電視臺方面有與黑道勾結共導此劇的嫌疑，於是要求有關人士到警署錄口供協助調查。據了解，調查中的確發現了諸多疑點，但後來黑道 又通過進一步的活動，調查中途無故停止，胡亂下了一個結論。當時最大的疑點就是，據現場勘察，被家駒衝破的那塊擋板，竟然是一塊用於電影拍攝的道具木板，其硬度與泡沫塑膠無異…… 忠勇歌迷出手相救 事實上，家駒尚活人間，這一點連其他BEYOND三子都不知情，一切都在極度的秘密之中進行。也多虧了黑道之中同樣也有BEYOND的忠誠歌迷，於是由他們上演了一齣“調包計”，但因此也犧牲了一位BEYOND迷，如果沒有他的捨身取義，也就沒有家駒的脫身。 對家駒實施迫害的黑道之中，有兩人正是BEYOND的鐵桿迷。為救出家駒，其中一人自願做家駒的“替屍”，這真是世間少有的俠義豪情…… 18年前，一個越南的貧民偷渡來到香港，由於得不到當地政府的認可成了無名戶。該人在越南名叫阮忠元，只比家駒小一歲。來到香港，為了生存，忠厚善良又老實 的阮忠元竟然迫不得已加入黑道。雖然身在江湖黑道，阮忠元依然在反復多次聽了家駒的歌之後成為忠誠的歌迷，在諸多的家駒名曲中，阮尤其中意? 漱@首《誰 伴我闖蕩》……

1993年初，阮忠元所在的組織接了一單“生意”——就是要……(難過，不忍下筆)聽說自己的組織要對自己的偶像下手，阮該是一種多麼難過的心情，為了拯救自己的偶像，於是阮忠元進行了一系列的計劃與努力，首先，給家駒的BP機留言臺留言，提醒家駒的日本之行。關於這一環節，在家駒事發後，家強也證實當時收到了一則莫名的留言，內容是：“表哥，日本的天氣很糟糕，暫不要過來！……”當然，這是阮出於保護自己的需要，不敢過於明白指出而發出的留言，可惜的是，沒有引起家駒的注意，以為是誰發錯了號碼。 家駒入院，昏迷六天，其實就在第六天的時候家駒已有明顯好轉，這一點家強都可以證明。但有誰知道，好轉對於家駒而言，也就意味著將很快要再次遭受補充的襲擊。處於關鍵時刻，阮忠元作出了他一生之中最後的也是最偉大的一個決定，並立即實行，通過他的打點和他另一位鐵哥們的努力，家駒很快被轉移。接著，按照忠元的遺命，那位鐵哥們將忠元用鐵錘打死，以作為家駒的替身。同時，家駒被秘密轉往日本鄉下，這一點當時沒有第三人知道，了解真相的僅有兩個人，其中一個就是獻身的阮忠元，甚至參與秘密運送的人，都不明白真相。 是誰幹的，說實在的我不敢說出來！說出來也解決不了問題！有空我會再接著披露一些可以披露的情況！ 為救家駒提前整容家駒從有意到日本發展，及至真正成行中間有三個多月的時間，而阮 忠元在這期間，為了能夠在必要的時候為自己的偶像捐軀，進行了相關的準備，其中，最重要的準備就是易容。本來阮、黃兩人年齡相倣，身材相當，只是在臉型上有點差別。籍貫為廣東臺山的家駒與來自越南的阮忠元都具有南方人的特徵，所以在易容的時候並不困難。 據說，在家駒入院期間，家強就曾見到過電臺的工作人員之中有一人與家駒長相極為相 似，其實那就是阮忠元。 另一方面，家駒入院之後，為便於治療將頭髮全部剃光，這樣一來，長相其實給人的視覺又有了很大的改變。還有，家駒入院後，整個的頭部都處於腫痛狀態，臉型也因此有所改變。有了這幾個變化，從而讓阮的替代行動得以順利進行。於是人們在不知情的 情況下，將阮忠元當作家駒。而家駒在被秘密送往日本鄉下之後，經過一年多的時間才 逐漸恢復，但由於頭部受傷，造成了一定程度的失憶。幾年前，坊間就有人傳說家駒在 日本成了植物人，其實不是這麼回事，失憶倒是真的。

Fish Tank is broken

Unbelievable force! The Fish Tank was broken by a heavy force from the Fish in my workplace this morning. The Tank was about 60cm (W) x 90cm (H) x 180cm (L) and the fist is at 5 pounds with a 40cm length.

"Gosh! It is broken..." my coworker told me when I entered my office at

8:55am ... The first thing came up in my mind was not the fish but the bathroom's sink. I never expected the tank would be broken by the fish. The water has covered all over the office and we could not do anything except sweep the floor. Well, my personal belongings will never be put down on the floor because it is not a secure place. I hope the fish will get better soon.

Kento... forget about you.

Sorry! I have forgot that Kento and I share the same birthday. How are you, Kento? Did you have fun in your special day? Did you get loads of gifts in Japan?

I have called Peggy, my talented AIS Hong Kong Schoolmate in the bus this morning. She is majored in Graphics Design. I remember that we met each other in the hallway near by the School Culinary Department in May 2003. She saw me wearing a facemask in the school and guessed I just got back from Hong Kong during the SARS time. Eventually we said "Hi!" to each other and exchanged our contact info.

Today, she has told me that she is ready for the new quarter and there is 4 classes left before graduation. The weather of Seattle is wonderful. Ten seconds of sunshine, another ten seconds of shade and a few drops of rain... The temperature is comfy. Of course, there is her personal sharing with me.

On the other hand, I had a family dinner last night. Siu Ying and Dennis are my cousins. We have not met for at least two years. Either I was in the US or they were in Hong Kong, or the other way around. Finally we could sit back, relax and chat face to face instead on the phone. Siu Ying looks taller and prettier, so does Dennis looks stronger. She plans to continue her studies in Hong Kong and Denise spends his summer vacation with family. I look forward to hanging out with them often.

Happy Birthday to myself!

I am late again...

I was so tired this morning and did not even want to wake up. Maybe because I stayed up late last night for reading JESSICA or my body was not ready for work.

Blogging is the second favorite I would do at work. The first things would be reading through the important emails for work. Most of the time I have a few topics I planned to write about during the bus ride. Sometimes I am lack of inspirations and motivations. I hope you don’t mind my causal writing style because I am not really good at writing and finding interesting facts. At the same time, I cannot type in Chinese on the computer. That’s a serious problem that blocks me to communicate with my local friend through email effectively.

… The weather is warm and wet. I try to enjoy as much as possible. How’s about you? No matter where you are, tell me how the weather likes in another part of the continents. Since there is only numbers in the weather report with no real human feeling about it, I do not trust the weather report as much.

On the other hand, my 24th Birthday Party will be started at 7:00pm tonight (July 9th, 2005). My old, new, close and okay friends will show up at my home in Wang Tau Hom, KLN. Can’t wait to celebrate and thank them for all these years. I will share my personal photo albums and videos.

Sreeraj... I miss you!

Sreeraj... my beloved Hamster, a kind one, a lovely one, a quite one... I miss you. Although you are longer living in my bedroom, your spirit will always be with me.

Everything started from here... Rahul was my first Hamster ever. He was lonely and might want to have a friend. Therefore, I asked my Kent Mok, my friend from WHPHC to give me another at June 12 (Sun) because he had plenty of them.

At the first day, the sizes of Rahul and Sreeraj were similar. Rahul was little longer and Sreeraj was smaller. They seemed to get along well. They played all night with the wheel.

Unfortunately, Rahul was getting fat and Sreeraj did not grow as much. As Rahul lived in my home a weeklonger and Sreeraj might think that he was a guest still. Therefore, I separated them last night. I left Rahul in a Blue Ball and Sreeraj in the cage.

6: 40 am, July 7 (Thur)... It was a rainy morning. I woke up exceptional early. Don't know why... I checked the cage and found Sreeraj's body. He went to Father's hand... I touch his little cold body and he was holding the floor really tight.

Did I treat him badly? Why he was gone so fast and I did not even have much time to play with him? Did Rahul hit him during the day? Did I feed him less... I felt like I was not a good caretaker.

Sad... I placed him in a newspaper with a rubber band and put him in the Garden near my home. The rain was still there...

Sreeraj, I will always remember you. Go to heaven in peace and may you have a better place to live happy ever.

Woke up late... but found something cool

I woke up at 8:00am this morning. It was late!! I just put the make up on and rush to leave home. Picking up a JESSCIA from the Circle K, I flipped through the pages in the bus. The subject of this issue was about “We Love Hong Kong”. Several interviews with celebrities, business people, politicians, and chef… were reported in the sections. They talked about the incoming Disneyland, Hong Kong Culture, Real Estate, Food, Politics and Arts. It was a positive review and a simple reminder for me that “It is Cool to live in Hong Kong, a busy over crowed International city”. Well, I have been living in Hong Kong for ten months. There were a few moments of culture shocks, homesick (I miss Seattle honestly!), misunderstandings, miscommunications and overloads thinking… Luckily, Chun Chun, Carol, Alvin, Ada, Wab Wab and many of friends are standing next to me. I am not alone. Thank you!

4 More Days

4 more days... I will turn from 23 to 24. Can't believe that the time flies so fast. My memories of my 23rd Birthday become a blur like these...

July 9. 2004. It was Friday and a night before my Birthday. Maybe I had a day off that day. Simmy, Howard and a few more friends had a Birthday Party for me in caregroup house. The Birthday Cake was tasty. The gifts were nice and thoughtful. Simmy, Howard & Jay gave me a deep red handbag (Many of you might saw that in the pictures because I carry it around.) Chikano gave me a set of CDs.

July 10, 2004. It was a long day. I was waiting for Rahul’s dinner. He said that he would come early. I was not very patient because I wanted to see him badly. It ended up he brought cold food and cake from the supermarket around 4: 00pm. Later, I met Dhiraj, his friends from Chico, CA for the first time. We went to Wal-Mart in Renton. They bought me a DVD player as a birthday gifts. I was so excited for my first DVD player and spent almost every night watching movies.  After that, three of us went to the Chinese restaurant and had a dinner. Dhiraj did not like the Chinese as much as Rahul did. I thought he was a picky eater who enjoyed Red Wine.

Honestly, 2004 was a rough year for me. I had experienced ups and downs, separation, relocation… it is one of the unforgettable years. Well, I am pleased at what I am now and enjoy every moment that I am living in. Not because I have a steady job with a decent amount of money that I could spend, not because my parents are living with me, nor my youth... Might be I am still alone and have a freedom to do whatever I like.

Thanks to the people who have lifted me up through those harsh days or people that have given me a hard time that made me grow. I love you both.
