Is it possible to get sued by keeping other's exam result in email box?

Dear Student

Examination Results Notifications for 2006-07 Semester 2

You may have received my email of 10 June 2007 informing you that errors have been discovered in the despatch of Examination Results Notifications (ERNs) to students for 2006-07 Semester 2.

As explained, although emergency measures have been taken to retract all the ERN mails previously despatched, the Information Technology Services Office (ITS) has no means to get back those mails which have been moved to other folders or forwarded to other email accounts. Based on the information provided by ITS, examination results of another student might have been sent wrongly to your email address and could not be retracted due to the above reason.

I am writing to urge you to take immediate action to delete any wrong information that you might have received, if you have not yet done so. Please be reminded that it is against the Data Privacy Ordinance for anyone to keep personal information of another person without authorization.

I would like to thank you for your co-operation in advance.

Mrs Nancy Tong

Academic Secretary
