Fire in Chinese underwear factory kills 7 women

BEIJING: A fire at an underwear factory in the southern Chinese manufacturing center of Shenzhen on Sunday killed seven women, a news report said.

Four people working at the factory in the city's Bao'an district were rescued after the fire broke out, the government's Xinhua News Agency said, citing police.

The report gave no indication of the cause of the fire.

Shenzhen, which borders Hong Kong, is the site of hundreds of factories run by export companies that make goods ranging from clothing and furniture to electronics.
