I want to be healed right here right now

Sorry, I have been so sick for more than one week. It is totally uncool and I am not productive at all...

Is there anyway that my flu and cold will go away with a single pill?

Be the head, not the tail

“History has repeatedly been changed by people who had the desire and the ability to transfer their convictions and emotions to their listeners.”

- Dale Carnegie

Dear Candy:

A key quality of a leader is the ability to "move people" to action. Here are some guidelines for inspiring cooperation:

- Begin with honest, sincere appreciation
- Show respect for the other person's opinion
- Ask questions instead of giving direct orders
- Make the other person happy about doing the thing you suggest

ITC3613 Health science of intimate apparel

After taking the first health science of intimate apparel class with Prof. Tang Pak- Lai, Faculty of health & social science, pointed out a few insightful norms about intimate apparel as follows.

"Normally nobody cannot see what you are wearing inside in the daily life. You are the one who knows and can feel it. It is a very subjective matter."

"Ensure the dye chemicals do not irritate our sensitive body area. Otherwise, it could be harmful to wearer's health."

"The less fabric and coverage, the more expensive."

“The difference between the craft maker and designer is that-

Craft maker is a doer who focuses on making the product well.

Designer is a doer who put the user's needs as the first priority.”

...

Therefore, to be a professional lingerie designer , health and safety issues should be considered as important as the aesthetic, fitting, trend, functionality and cost in the design criteria.

On the other hand, my classmates were active and asked any question about body care, beauty enhancement products, weight management and pregnancy. I believe most of my classmates enjoyed Prof. Tang's teaching... so did I.

Value added solution

“The longer I live, the more certain I am that enthusiasm is the little recognized key to success.”

- Frederick Williamson

Dear Candy:

In order to differentiate ourselves in a crowded, competitive marketplace, we need to be unique with exciting approaches to solving buyer's problems. We also need to be present in a way that builds credibility and makes people want to buy. One of the most effective ways to combat the price objection is to build value in the solution of the sale. What we present and how we present it is critical to the buying/selling process.

Candy, you can do it all!

P.S. Thanks for sharing, Wab Wab!

Writing a mastectomy bra article

Jons, Andy, Prisci, Sahara, Chris and I are researching on the mastectomy bra for our health science class. Since we have never had any experience with this topic, interviewing breast cancer survivors, medical professionals, and social workers will help us to understand the design criteria and the health issue.

Principles of improving human relations

“Try honestly to make the other person feel important, and do it sincerely.”

- Dale Carnegie

Dear Candy:

is important. You have little to gain if you choose to deny this. Your relationships with employees and coworkers are not subsidiary to the work you all come together to do; rather, strong relationships are essential to doing that work--especially if you want to do that work well.

People are much more than simply what their job description implies. Give each person's life sincere consideration, and notice a considerable change in your own. You are able to learn from others' experiences that which you could not from simply the experiences you've had. Begin to foster the possibilities by employing some of the following Human Relations Principles:

- Become genuinely interested in other people
- Smile
- Be a good listener. Encourage others to talk about themselves
- Talk in terms of the other person's interests
- Make the other person feel important -- and do it with sincerity

Group Project- Design for a brand, Design analysis & development

Sahara, Amanda, Callen and I have formed a group for the design project this semester. Our ultimate goal is to create two separate lingerie catalogues. The first one is to analyze and develop an existing collection for a lingerie company. For example, Body by Victoria's Secret & Black Label by La Perla. The second one is to design a brand new line for a non lingerie company which might be profitable by having a lingerie line to fulfill their customer's needs. For example, Kenneth Cole & Coach.

HKIAIA Booth

Cool! It was my first time to be student helper for the booth of Hong Kong Intimate Apparel Industries' Association Ltd at the Hong Kong Fashion Week for Fall / Winter 2007 today. My main task was to promote the Bachelor of Arts (Hons) in Intimate Apparel and short courses from The Hong Kong Polytechnic University. Plus, I got a chance to mingle with professionals from the bodywear and intimate apparel industries.

On the other hand, Trini, the customer relations officer of HKIAIA was very friendly and encouraged me to study hard in my program. I enjoyed working with her.

Delighted to know everybody is fine at where he/she is

Recently, I have received a few reply emails from Polo, Yumi, Ikuya, Mona, Carry and Eva. They are my I-Hope friends who have studied in Seattle as international students a few years ago. They have seen my change from a teenage girl to a lady, tough me how to love and receive loved. Their cultural sharing has expanded my horizon and enriched my cultural sense.

Once in a while I think of them and recalled our fun memories such as Friday care group, potluck, car wash, garage sales, birthday party, school events...

Although we are living part of the continents and achieving our goals as a group of hard working individuals now, I hope one day we shall have a reunion.

How to sell effectively

“The salesperson's job is to persuade people to want what they already need.”

- E. St. Elmo Lewis

Dear Candy:

- Remind your buyers that they lack the benefit your solution will give them
- Get their agreement
- Remind your buyers that your solution will satisfy that lack
- Paint a word picture of your buyer using your solution, enjoying it, and benefiting from it

Start living for today

“Today is a new life. Shut the doors on the past and the future. Live in day-tight compartments.”

- Dale Carnegie

Dear Candy:

In this day and age, with so many developments occurring at lightning-fast speed, it is easy to feel constantly stressed and worried about important situations. Here are some tips on learning how to break the worry habit:

- Use the law of averages to outlaw your worries
- Cooperate with the inevitable
- Decide just how much anxiety a thing may be worth and refuse to give it more
- Don't worry about the past
