新詞彙 Coffice

《紐約時報》去年底的專題〈 The Words of the Year〉中，除了選出南非世界盃中的非洲喇叭 Vuvuzela上榜外，還有 Coffice一詞。「 Coffice： In South Korea, a coffee shop habitually used as an office by customers, who mooch its space, electricity, Wi-Fi and other resources. Presumably, they pay for the coffee.」意指在南韓地區，提供無線上網、電源及空間的咖啡店已成為顧客的辦公室。

Mac 貼士：神秘的 Home 和 End 鍵

PC 的鍵盤一定有 Home 和 End 鍵。任何 Windows 軟件都可利用 Home 鍵跳到一行文字的開首，或 End 鍵跳到行末。這是 DOS 時代已經存在的「標準」。

Mac 的鍵盤不一定有 Home 和 End 鍵。即使有，除了跟 Microsoft 有關的產品（例如 Office 或以 Boot Camp / "Parallels" / "VMware" 進入 Windows 環境）之外，其他軟件都絕大部分不認得這兩個鍵，或者另有其他用途（例如跳到頁首、頁尾），那怎麼辦？

一般來說，如果文字欄只有一行（例如搜尋欄、儲存檔名等），大家可以用上下箭咀鍵來分別代替 Home 和 End 鍵，跳到行首或行末。可惜現在搜尋欄經常彈出「實時選單」，徵用了上下箭咀鍵；對一整篇文字來說，箭咀鍵更有它們本來的任務，在此顯然幫不上忙。

大家可試試下載一個很舊但應該還有用的小程式 KeyFixer，它能修改一項隱藏的系統設定，把 Home 和 End 鍵「還原」至我們熟悉的用法，可惜還是有個別軟件（例如 Firefox、 iTunes）未能受惠，或要另請高明。

iPhone 貼士：如何自製電話鈴聲

相信這是「iPhone 十大常見問題」之一。反正最後還是「知其然，而不知其所以然」，與其像不少電腦雜誌般由 Step 1 教到 Step 9，倒不如抄捷徑找 Apps 代勞。

進入 App Store 搜尋 "ringtone"，你會發現大量鈴聲製作軟件，而且大部分都是免費的！免費軟件毋須推介，可乾脆逐一試用，但要注意的是，最終還是要靠電腦的 iTunes 軟件，把鈴聲以同步 (Sync) 方式重新灌入 iPhone。這一步不能以任何 ringtone app 代勞，但通常它們都會有詳細說明，只要按部就班即可。一個軟件看不明白，便下載另一個吧！
