Surgery Part 2

My Mom will have a brain surgery tomorrow morning. Although this one will be a simpler than the last one, my dad is worried... so am I. If there is no surprise, my mom will be discharged by Wednesday.

Again, I will be hanging out with my friends tonight to escape from the stress.

在職場工作，幾乎都脫離不了薪水問題，尤其到一個新的工作環境，雖然嘴上總是以遵照公司規定來迴避，但是在心理上，鮮少有人不在乎薪水高低，何況在一個以收入衡量能力的社會。

日前，公司應徵業務人員，其中有一個人的資歷顯赫，對於我們公司來說，有點小廟容不了大和尚的狀況，因此即使讓他來面談，但我們都不抱太大的希望。

面談的時侯，我們也很誠實的跟他說，依據公司規定，並不能給了太高的薪水，沒想到他竟然接受不到他原來工作薪水一半的條件，讓我們有點喜出望外。

開始上班之後，也沒有任何出身大企業不好的習慣，準時上班，報表填寫清楚，勤跑客戶，過不了多久，他的業績遠遠超乎原本的預期，於是在最短的時間內，首度破格晉升，而且大幅度的加薪，自此，他也更加的賣力，為公司創造更多的業績。

原來他在前一個公司已做到一級主管，工作相當順手，薪水十分滿意，原以為可以就此衣食無虞的過一生，沒想到公司的一次海外投資失敗，老闆避走國外，讓他們連帶受累，哭訴無門。

其間，他也曾經因為薪水無法與自己所要求的相符而怨天尤人，總認為自己是懷才不遇，別的老闆都不識貨，但在經歷一段時間的挫折與沈澱之後，他選擇重新出發，重新體認到價值與價格的差異點。

他認為，"價格"是別人給的，隨時可以拿走，"價值"卻是自己創造出來的，任誰也無法帶走。

這些話讓我受益匪淺，尤其他也用實際的行動創造自己的價值，雖然我們只能付出部分的價格來僱用他，不過這已是我們所能給的最高限度，但他所帶給公司的價值，絕對是金錢無法衡量的。

108 Sun Salutations

10 weeks with Pure yoga

After joining Pure Yoga for 2.5 months in LP, here is my personal review.

Learning atmosphere: Classmates are open and try their best to do the pose. I have made new friends too.

Facility: OK. If sauna and steam room are added, will be nice. However, not sure how often and when do the staff clean the mats. (Myoga staff always clean the mats right after class.)

Timetable: Fine. I wish there are less one hour break in between classes and they should offer class at 8am on Saturday & Sunday.

Instructor: Most of them are very friendly and helpful. My favorite teachers are Ocean, Cinderella, Deva, Claudia, Lisa, Jasmine, Michael L, Serena, Will Lau and Bernadette. ( For those I have not mentioned, it might mean I never take their class or I don't know how to appreciate their teaching style.)

My favorite class: Hatha 1, Hot HR, Ashtanga and Jivamukti

Classes I have not taken yet: Anusara Mixed, Bollywood Fusion, Core, Hot Flow, Indian Dance, Kids Yoga ( I don't think I could qualify for that), Power 3, Prana/Med, Pre-Natal (Again, not yet), Satyananda YogaR Meditation, Pranayama & Yoga Nidra

Progress: I have lost 10 pounds and can do headstand with the wall. Also, I have tried backdrop and handstand with extra help from classmates and instructors.

Receptionists: Helpful. Some of them remember my name.

Overall, I enjoy most of my classes so far and look forward to getting shape before summer.

Story of Wong Ka Kui (Eng subtitle)

I always listened to Beyond's music during primary school. Ka Kui was my favorite one. Miss his voice alot!

Simple & Surprising

Being sick these couple days, my body is numb and tired.  My lower back has been killing me and I wish to cut it out. I would like to share 3 simple and surprising incidents which happens today with you here.

1) Taking Will Lau's Hatha 1 with no expectation again. It was easy with many twisting poses. Surely enjoys every minute in it. There was a new student next to me. It was her first time and she had a hard time at the downward facing dog. She did remind me my first yoga class and my body was so weak. I gave her a smile and tried to cheer her up.

At the end of the class, as usual I always drank the whole bottle of water and lied down and took a long rest. When I closed my eyes for 30s, Will Lau touched my head and acknowledged my good work (Maybe just the smile I usually kept on my face, or took his class regularly). I was surprised and happy!

2) Taking Lisa's Hatha 2 class, I looked outside of the window during the warrior 3 pose. The sky was blue and a few pieces of snow white cloud as a part of decoration. I was in awe of mother nature in this super busy and crowed city. Also, I was grateful for being free and happy as who I was at that moment.

3) On my way back home, I was day dreaming about some silly things while walking through the MTR station. Suddenly, there was a young lady raised her voice a simple sentence.

"Sister, you are so beautiful!"

I was shock at first. Then, I looked at her face and friendly smiled back. 

Not hearing these types of compliment in public for age since moving back from Seattle (I got that alots from the bums in the US), there were many people watching over me and I did not pay much attention to my surroundings.

Clairessence

Smell is your sixth sense. Also called clairessence (clear essence), you are a person who's very in tune with scent, from perfumes to flowers to toxic fumes. A person gifted with clairessence will often smell certain aromas even when the source cannot be found. Or you will associate certain people with certain scents. For example, if you are easily annoyed by a certain someone (ahem, younger sib?) you may pick up an unpleasant odor when he/she is around. Now, this might be due to some stinky laundry, but often it's something that's intuitive and only you can experience. Some even say that a clairessence will smell roses when a person has died or recovered from a bad illness. Hmm...

I guess the result is pretty reliable. That's why I love wearing perfume and always associate my friends with the smell of their deodorant or perfume. Therefore, remember wear something smell good when you are with me, ok?

Love actually is all around

Whenever I get gloomy with the state of the world, I think about the arrivals gate at Heathrow Airport. General opinion's starting to make out that we live in a world of hatred and greed, but I don't see that. It seems to me that love is everywhere. Often it's not particularly dignified or newsworthy, but it's always there - fathers and sons, mothers and daughters, husbands and wives, boyfriends, girlfriends, old friends. When the planes hit the twin towers, as far as I know none of the phone calls from the people on board were messages of hate or revenge - they were all messages of love. If you look for it, I've got a sneaky feeling you'll find that love actually is all around.
